“The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining brighter and brighter ‘til the full light of day.” – Proverbs 4:18
Darkness wraps around our world
It hides the light from all our faces
‘Til one small speck of pink unfurled
Will brush the tops of the highest places
That one small speck will grow and grow
The color turns to peach, then gold
What once was hid begins to show
The lakes, the trees, O child, behold
Some space remains light has not found,
There hide both pride and shame, diseases,
But light breaks through, yes, all around
Revealing all through light, through Jesus
Search me, O God, and know my heart,
And so he takes his light and starts
Revealing all the grossest parts
And tearing my false gods apart
A fearful thing it is indeed
Yielding every part of me
But O, this I most dearly need
A transformed life for all to see
I once groped through the darkness blind
Then Yahweh took me as his son
And each day he renews my mind
Until the end when all is done
Then just like Jesus I will be
And all those others rescued, too,
Together every eye will see
How Christ, our light, makes all things new.
I love this light He brings!
